Within the framework of the implementation of the grant-funded project of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education “Virtual laboratory and educational-experimental plot as means of forming subject competence in biology among students of rural schools”, on February 16, 2024, a seminar “Integration of digital technologies into the educational process in natural sciences: best practices” was held for teachers of the natural science cycle of rural schools of the Pavlodar region. The seminar was held at the Institute for Advanced Training of Teaching Staff “Orleu”, Pavlodar, G. Dyusenov Street 22/1.

23 teachers from rural schools of the Pavlodar region took part in the seminar.

The seminar was conducted in accordance with the plan of activities within the framework of the project implementation.

The purpose of the seminar is to increase the competence of teachers in the field of using digital technologies in teaching natural sciences, as well as to create a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience between professionals working in this field.

During the work, a demonstration was carried out for the seminar participants of a system of work on developing the level of professional competence on issues of improving the quality of the use of digital technologies, which, in turn, will make it possible to increase students’ interest and motivation in studying natural sciences, make learning more interactive and accessible, and will also contribute to the development of key skills necessary for successful work in the modern information society.

The seminar began with a speech by the scientific supervisor of the project, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Khamzina Sh.Sh., where the practical application of the research results in the development of an educational and methodological resource for the use of a virtual laboratory and an educational-experimental plot in teaching biology for subject teachers was considered.

At the plenary session of the seminar, researchers of Margulan University presented their innovative approaches to teaching:

-  Demonstration of projects aimed at optimizing the educational process using virtual laboratories and educational-experimental plots.

-  Presentation of author’s developments of virtual laboratories adapted for teaching in rural conditions.

-  Recommendations on the use of educational-experimental plots for the development of subject and research competencies of students.

-  Educational and methodological complex and practical recommendations for its use.

In addition, the seminar participants took part in a master class on writing scientific articles in real time.

The seminar participants highly appreciated the practical value of the presented reports, noting their relevance and readiness to use the acquired knowledge in their work.

After the plenary session, a practical introduction to the educational platform “Virtual Laboratories in Biology” for 7th grades took place. Also, together with school teachers, a scientific article was written in real time using various applications.

Throughout the seminar, participants became acquainted with various approaches and methods of working with the virtual laboratory.

In accordance with the seminar program, three reports were presented. After each report, discussions were held, and the speakers answered questions from the audience.

Summing up, it should be noted that the seminar participants highly appreciated the professionalism of the speakers.

One of the main achievements was the supplementation of the theoretical base of the speakers by practicing teachers of rural schools of the Pavlodar region, and a plan for cooperation with Margulan University in the direction of digitalization of natural science education was outlined.
